I am new to XP and the whole concept of accounts and multiple users. I have
set an account for my kids and want them to be able to access programs I
install on the machine through their account. So far when I have installed
games like Age of Mythology they get an icon on their desktop but cannot run
the program and get the message that they need administrator priveleges to
do so.

How do I either install the games etc so that they can run them or set up
account to enable them to run programs from their accounts.

The ability to run programs in a Limited account falls on the makers of
the program. See this link for an explanation:

For games, after installation your next step is always to go to the
game's website and look for patches, known issues, and user forums.

That is up to the game programer. Please visit the game website for
support and patches relating to the game.
