I have a computer running XP Home with Service Pack 2, and when I turn on
Sharing for the printer, the computer slows down to an almost inoperable
speed. If I end the Spoolsv.exe via task manager, the speed goes back to
normal. If I disable Sharing on the printer, it works fine. Re-enable
sharing, and it slows down again.
I have tried new drivers for the printer, have tried a different printer
with the same result. I have tried uninstalling the Service Pack 2 and
reinstalling SP2 off a MS CD. Once it was reinstalled, I turned on Sharing
for the printer, and it slowed down again.
I thought this problem had been fixed in SP2? Its not the printer drivers,
it's not a specific printer as I've tried a different brand and model of
printer with the same result.
If anyone has any ideas I'd be happy to hear them. I thought maybe there was
a temp file stuck in the 'spool' directory, but there weren't any spooled
jobs there.
Any help greatly appreciated.
