Sharing folders as a Domain User (windows XP prof)

okay,

Here's something we've been strugling with for some time now.

I know file sharing in winxp is no problem if you're an administrator
and have enabled sharing. But how do we enable sharing for "normal"
domain users? Logged on as a user de sharing tab is simply missing.
The domain user is owner on the folder en has (ofcourse) all the right
permisisons (Full Control) But the sharing Tab is simply missing.

I just won't believe it's simply not possible to share folders on a
windows prof workstation as a domain user.
The domain user is not a member of the local administrators group and
has limited rights on filesystem and registry.

I reviewed alse the GPO but in there I can't find a setting to enable
sharing of folders.

On Windows NT4 (SP6a) is was never an issue to share folders on a
local hardddisk on wich the user has the right permisisons

Someone?

Is it possible that you do not have "Simple File Sharing" enabled? Try - My
Computer/Tools/Folder Options/View/then at the bottom, check "Use Simple
File Sharing".

The tighter security of Win2K and WinXP has elevated the privilege
of creating shares to Power Users, by default. It's not something
many network admins want normal users doing.

You can add the privilege to the local Users group, if you like.
Control Panel > Administrative Tools > Local Security Settings > Local
Policies > User Rights Assignments.
