How to configure file sharing in Windows XP
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/304040/en-us

You receive an error message when you try to access a shared folder on a
network computer that is running Windows XP Home Edition
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/885184/en-us

Normally you should right click on the folder and click properties , click
on the sharing tab , click on permissions , check that the user has
sufficient share permissions.

Then click on the security tab , and ensure that the user has sufficient
NTFS permissions.

Normal quick fix would be to add the everyone group to both , but this =
weak security. Not recommended.

I dit that but I don't know how to add the portable as a user at this stage

In safe mode:
Right click on the shared folder in explorer, click properties, click
the security tab, click or add "everyone'. Ok
