Dear all,

From a Windows XP Pro system, I am sharing a root folder
with the default sharing permission. Then I have some
other subfolder where acess is set accodinging to
individual users.

Thne I try to access to that share folder from a W2000
system. When I click my Xp system visible in default
woprkgroup, I get a login windows whcih identify me on the
Xp system.

Why from that login I can not enter with other name than
Administrator ? I get error account restriction

WHere I am specifying user which are allowed to login from
that login window

Thnaks for your information

I found out the problem
To be able to connect to a remote pc with a normal user it
seems that a paasowrd is absolutly needed.
At least this is how I made it work

If you have any commnets please feel free

That's correct. XP blocks network access to accounts that have blank
passwords. This is new to XP (2000 did not do this) and you can disable it
if you really want.

If you want to disable the restriction against logging on to the network
without a password, you can do so through Local Security Policy. The policy
setting that controls blank password restriction can be modified using the
Local Security Policy (available under Administrative Tools) or Group Policy
MMC snap-ins (such as GPEDIT.MSC). You can use either tool to find this
policy option at Security Settings\Local Policies\Security Options. The name
of the policy is Accounts: Limit local account use of blank passwords to
console logon only. It is enabled by default.
