With windowsxp home, I can't make files unaccessable to
other users even though I am an adiminstrator?

If you do not have a security tab in the properties of a folder, you can
boot into safe mode, log in as the administrator and the security tab will
show up. You can then set your permissions for the folder.

On a new XP home system, I can set access permissions on
a folder, but it looks to be limited to just read/write
control for anyone on the network. Anyone know how to
set username/password access like XP Pro and even win98?

Thanks

You must be using the NTFS file system. Most OEM installs are NTFS, but
most 9x upgrades are still FAT32. You would need to convert FAT32 to
NTFS. See http://www.aumha.org/a/ntfscvt.htm for full information on
converting FAT32 to NTFS.

Then you would need to create a password for each account and select
"make files private". If you already have a password and no privacy,
right-click on your My Documents folder, select properties, and then the
Sharing tab and check "Make this folder private".
