Sharing a Printer on XP Pro with 2000 Pro

I have a Linksys Wireless-B Broadband Router and I am trying to print
wirelessly from my Laptop (which uses Win2000 Pro) to the Desktop
printer (which is set up on WinXP Pro). I can surf the internet fine,
but I cannot print. I have enabled sharing of my printer from my
Desktop XP and have run through the Network Setup Wizard and set up
the "resedential gateway." Once that completed, I made the network
setup disk.

PROBLEM:
I took the network disk and tried to run "netsetup.exe" on my Win2000
Laptop, but wouldn't you know it, netsetup WILL NOT run on Win2000.
It works with every other MS OS EXCEPT 2000. So now, I have no idea
how to configure the Laptop to print wirelessly on the Desktop XP
Printer.

Any suggestions for a newbie who has limited knowledge in configuring
a home network?

Get rid of the stuff that the network setup disk did including the
residential gateway. None of that is needed. Make sure any firewall
software is turned off and that NetBIOS over TCP/IP is enable. Just share
the printer and it should work.

You will need to install it on the other PC.

Actually XP's netsetup disk won't run on Windows 95, NT, or 2000. But
that's OK, because it's never necessary to run it on another computer.
You can make all the network settings manually.

On XP, right click and share the printer.

On 2000:

1. Set the workgroup name to the same name that XP uses (default is
MSHOME). This isn't strictly necessary, but it makes networking a
little easier.

2. Go to Control Panel | Printers, click "Add Printer", and install
the printer as a network printer, specifying the XP computer's name
and the printer's share name.

3. If it asks for drivers, give it a floppy or CD with Windows 2000
drivers for the printer.
