I am trying to set up a newtowrk between two xp pro
computers. they now notice each other one has dial up and
i would like to allow the other one to use it as well. i
ran the wizards, made the appropriate choces, and now the
computer that is not connected to the internet sees that
in connection it has a internet gatewat to connect to.
But when i try going to a webpage it says "page not
found". how do i tell Iexplorer/windows to use that
gateway to connect me to the web.

David,

Please provide some more detail about how the two computers are setup, and how
they are connected. Did you setup the one with the modem "This computer
directly connects to the internet" and "This computer will provide internet
service to other computers"? And the second computer "This computer connects to
the internet thru a gateway or another computer"?

Can the computer with the modem always connect and access webpages successfully?

Please post ipconfig information for each computer.
Start - Run - "ipconfig /all >c:\ipconfig.txt" - Open c:\ipconfig.txt in
Notepad, copy and paste into your next post.

From each computer:
1) Ping the other by name.
2) Ping the other by ip address.
3) Ping itself by name.
4) Ping itself by ip address.
5) Ping 127.0.0.1.
Report success / failure of each of 10 pings.

Cheers,
Chuck
