I have a Win2003 server that I use for development. There is no domain
or active directory configured. I have a printer that I want to share.
When I try to setup the shared printer from another machine in the
network, (same workgroup), I can browse to the printer but when I select
it to add, I get an "Access Denied" error.

In the security settings of the shared printer everyone is set to be
able to print to it.

Shared printers from desktop machines work fine. Is it something with
Win2003 security that I need to account for?

if you have NTFS filesystem then the permissions are of two types - sharing
and security permissions .when u acccess a resource from network most
restrictive of these permissions is applied so you need to allow you to
print in both theseaccess lists from right clicking the printer and applying
thru shaing and security tabs
