Small Home network running XP. Using workgrops, no domains. One computer
(name="daddy") is file server for all others
How do I restrict users on other PC's from accessing a particular folder on
a shared drive?

Setting permissions on "daddy" pc doesn't show user names(accounts) for any
computer except "daddy" - so how do I restrict a user account (molly) on
machne name "baby" from accessing folder name "poison" on the file server
PC - "daddy"???

Trying to view other locations from the "daddy' machne does not show any
other machine names (I wold expect to see "baby", and others)

Thanks for the help

Greetings --

In a peer-to-peer (workgroup) environment, it's necessary to
create a local user account for each user who will be accessing a
machine's shares via the network. These links can explain it better
than I:

OK - I added the specific user - restricted user from a folder by not
including in "allow" table.

Guess what? Still can access the folder!!!

This doesn't work for me...I must be missing something.

I have disabled simple file sharing, and get the security
tab OK. However, when I try to add specific users from
other computers to the permissions list, I only see the
users of *this* computer...'daddy' in the nicely written
original post.

I want to be able to have some users of other computers
("mommy") to see certain folders but not other users
("grandad").

How can I do this, please?
