Shared file access problem

My wife has a new system (Toshiba Notebook, if it matters) which is
running XPHome with all current updates. We have a small wireless
Windows network in the house to share files among four computers. My
wife can SEE all the shared resources, but can only ACCESS those drives
which are NOT password protected. When she tries to access one of the
password-protected drives, the appropriate dialog box appears asking for
the password. When the correct password is entered, absolutely NOTHING
happens. If I remove the password protection from that drive, she has
immediate access. I'm not sure what to do. We use 'automated' Windows
logon, ie; we don't log on so to speak.

Thanks is advance for any help anyone can supply.
