Shared Documents under My Computer

There is a folder called "Shared Documents" under "My Computer" which I have
read is for sharing files between users on the same computer or something
like that. I have tried to delete this folder but it won't allow deletion.
I would like to know how to turn this feature/folder off.

Also, there is a copy of "My Documents" from each user labeled [username]'s
Documents and I would like to turn this off too.

Does anyone have any information about these folders?
 
Nathan,

Right-click 'Shared Documents', select Properties > check the 'Hidden' box,
click OK. I wouldn't delete them.

You can disable the display of Shared Documents in My Computer by using
TweakUI, one of the MS powertoys. Get it from here:
http://www.microsoft.com/windowsxp/pro/downloads/powertoys.asp

Run it, click on My Computer, and untic Files Stored on this Computer.
