Recently I have noticed "shadow bars" for lack of a
better word, behind all the text on my dispay. For
example, when you click on my computer and it opens the
windows, after all the text like Documents, C: Drive
etc..etc... there are very light bars ....if you view
newsgroups in Microsoft Outlook you can really notice it
because of all the black text. It does not seem to be
in any of my games or other programs, only in things
operating on windows. Any help would be greatly
appreciated.

Still no go..but thanks for info. Its really an odd
thing...it appears to show up more on dark text, but it
is deffinatley there on all text. I am afraid maybe my
monitor is goin bad. I will attempt a complete reformat
first before replacing monitor of course...but it really
stumps me

Formatting your hard drive is a bit of a rash descision
to make.

1. Try another monitor, any half witted Computer repair
shop or expert , will probably test your graphics
output in the hope of selling you a replacement part!
2. Try updating your drivers
3. try reseating your graphics card
- If its PCI over to a new BUS Slot
- If it's AGP Replace the Card (a cheap good one is
like £20 NEW) (from
http://www.novatech.co.uk/novatech/home.html)
- If it's onboard buy a PCI or AGP card replacement

3. If indeed it is your monitor that has failed, and you
bought the monitor and computer togeither, then it may be
time to let go.

I agree you don't need to format and reinstall. You do need to try a
different monitor and make sure that the card is properly seated.
Drivers usually don't cause this as it is usually the monitor.

Just because the monitor goes bad does NOT mean you have to get a new
computer (unless it is a laptop). You should be fine just getting a new
monitor and hooking it up to the existing computer.
