Has anyone had any experience with the start run function
of sfc /scannow? I have XP sp2. Can I hurt anything if
I run this?

Art;
It is normally used to check for damaged or missing system files.
Like many tools you should not use it unless there is a good reason.
It is generally a safe tool to use.

.
I did the sfc/scannow and it took about 10 minutes and
never asked for any cd and closed and it seemed nothing
happened. I am having all kinds of odd things happen with
IE6-like not autostarting when I get on the web and now
after the sfc my menu icon for windows messenger is no
longer there. Is there any way a layman can re-install or
overinstall ie6 or a different scan for errors way? I
have Xp sp2. thanks for any suggestions.
