several cannot copy file dll errors

trying to install windows xp on an windows me computer,
from the e drive

keep getting error messages

msvcrt20.dll
bootvid.dll
kdcom.dll

cannot copy file

You can go to TechNet at microsoft.com,help/support,then locate the .dll/erro
on-line utility,this will give specific info to .dlls in windows.Or you can try a diffren
installation method,install xp cd,exit the info page,restart computer,boot to xp cd
select,install xp,new copy,then delete former os partition (ME),then the installatio
formats the hd and installs xp (clean install).XP doesnt need or use any ME files anywa
to operate.

thanks for replying, after spending 2 hours on phone with
a tech at Microsoft, we did a clean install, couldn't even
use our ME, had to use Windows 98. But now, we can't
connect to internet, there is no Internet Explorer,
Outlook Express or MSN messenger. No files, where do I
find them?
