ok, nevermind the last post. i just now have figured out what my problem
is, buy not yet how to sove it.

i have araid controller for which i need to install drivers during text-
mode setup. i press f6 like i normally would and select the driver, etc.
everything works fine until setup starts copying files. it tells me that
it cannot find the files for the driver that i installed just moments
earlier.

this is a problem that happens across different machines and different raid
controllers. it is not the particulat floppy from which the drivers are
being installed, and it is not the floppy drive from which the floppy is
being read.

this occurs in a SP1 slipstreamed setup disk with no other modifications to
it.

can ANYONE help me!?!?
Thanks!!!

If this device driver for the hard drive controller does not come on the
Windows XP CD, you will have to download the driver for it to a floppy. Here
is an article about this:

314859 Limited OEM Driver Support Is Available with F6 During Windows XP
Setup
http://support.microsoft.com/?id=314859

im not ntirely sure how this applies to my question. maybe you can
clarify. it seems that the ms kb article is baically telling me i need
to press f6 to install a 3rd party raid driver. this is something of
which i am reminded everytime i run setup.

the error is neither of those mentioned in the article either. the error
comes after i have selected a partition and formatted, ie done everything
that involves selecting a hard drive in text mode setup. the problem
occurs when setup initally copies files from the setup cd to the hard
drive. the very first files that it tries to copy are files that are
from the raid driver which i specified during the former part of the
installation. i have ruled out the possibility of a corrupt floppy where
the drivers are stored and anything that might be system specific.

as i said, i am absolutely baffled and at a loss as to what to do here.
anyone who can solve this problem, to you i will be eternally in debt.

thanks again guys!
