Trying to install Xp Home. As setup is copying files from
the CD to a new WD drive, at about 29%, I start getting
error messages that "The file *.dll was not copied
correctly". After hitting retry, it gives no further
message on that particular file, but I keep getting new
errors on further files down the road. Retry seems to
work, but this happens multiple times. The files involved
seem to differ each time, but it always hangs on luna.mst,
where I have to tell it to skip. Then I get a few more
copying errors until it seems to go smoothly again after
61%. The last time I tried, I got 29%, 15 retry errors,
luna.mst skip at 42%, then 4 more retries until it got
past 61%. It then goes into "installing windows" and the
install process stops soon after with no activity other
than the flashing icons and the "advertisements". This
leads me to suspect that the retry process didn't work, as
the only file I couldn't copy was luna.mst and I don't
think a missing theme file could be a problem. The CD is
new out of the box and is clean and unscratched. I changed
to another known good CD rom drive - same deal. Any ideas?
