Settings not saved on logoff

I have one Windows XP Pro machine out of about 15 Windows XP Pro machines
that are on a Windows NT 4 domain. On this one Windows XP Pro machine, the
user modifies his screen resoltion or turns numlock on - both which are
supposed to be saved settings. When he reboots they have reverted back to
their original state. We have not imposed any policy restrictions to prevent
him from saving settings. Any idea what I can look at to fix this? Thanks

Check to make sure the user is actually performing a shutdown or restart via
XP. I have had users that just hit the power button and recycle the box
(settings not saved this way).

Also check profiles. Do you see multiple profiles being created for this
problem user? Possible that the profile is not unloading correctly and a new
profile created at each logon.

Can other users logon on to this XP Workstation, do they have the same
problem?
Can this user logon to another workstation, does the problem follow?
Are you using roaming profiles?
Is the user a member of Guest (profiles not saved if you are a member of
Guest)? I have had users add themselves to every group they can find.

Hope this helps.

Thanks for the info.

I shall have to check a couple out. There does not appear to be multiple
seperate profiles being created but I am wondering if it creates a new one
at each login and thats the issue. The problem does not foloow the user to
other stations. No roaming profiles in use and the user is not a member of
guest. The admin login correctly saves settings but I shall have to try
another normal user on that machine. I did also find one two occassions that
the user had an even 1524 on logoff indicating the registry could not
unload. This was not every logoff. The KB shows a util might help with this
and perhaps that is also keeping the user settings from saving. Strange
thing is that this user is not running any apps that my other users aren't
aleady running and no problems with my other machines.
