I have a Dell Dimension 8300 running XP pro
When I shut down system, I get the message "SETTING~1.exe-dll" cannot be found
not a big problem really but I'm curious to know what it means...or if there
is a solution to this annoyance.

Please confirm that the machine is virus/malware-free by going through these
steps systematically:

Chances are it means there is malware on the pc.

still get the same message when I turn off computer. Thanks again for your

So what were the results of your malware scanning? Was the computer clean?
Was it infected and the scans removed something? If so, what?

If the machine was completely clean, then something is running in the
background that is failing. Only someone looking at the computer can
determine what that is. Do clean-boot troubleshooting and also look through
Jim Eshelman's troubleshooter.
