I used the Vista mail wizard today to set up my email from my internet
provider. It picked up all the inbound emails but hasnt picked up the sent
mail.
Is this correct and if it isnt how can I set it to do so?

Interestingly, I notice that my inbound messages on my Internet provider
mailbox have all been removed but the sent messages remain so Vista is
removing them somehow. This seems a little unusual and maybe not a good
result especially as I travel alot and it seems now that if I do not have my
computer with me, accessing my internet provider will not allow me to see any
of the old messages which Vista has now acquired
Any comments or observations from the panel would be gratefully received.

Assuming that you have a POP3 account, WinMail can't pick up previously sent
mail since it is not kept on the POP3 server. I don't understand your
second paragraph.

Im not sure I understand your "do not understand my 2nd paragraph.
Its quite clear in what it says. In downloading all my incoming emails onto
vista I now have no record of these on my internet server mailbox. this never
happened in XP where outlook express would quite happily download them but
they were still able to be accessed on the internet providers side as well,
Oh! as was my sent messages, so whats happening in Vista Frank?

I appreciate that Vista is new but the more I use it the more it seems that
the interface between it and other OS hasnt been well thought through but
thats maybe because i'm not an expert and dont want to be. So for example,
even using windows easy transfer which says you can transfer emails etc,
doesnt seem to work unless you backup outlook express first and I dont see
anywhere it says that. Result, one very frustrated user.
see my question elsewhere and your answer, now I have to install outlook
express onto Vista. Im sorry but I dont see the logic.

Outlook Express won't run under Vista.

In Windows Mail, you can click on Tools, then Accounts, then your email
account, then Properties, then Advanced. If there is no check mark in the
box before Leave a copy of messages on server, click on this box and then
Apply. You should also select a method of deleting old messages, so the
server won't have so many messages for you that it refuses to accept more.
Click on Apply, then OK, then Close. This won't help with messages
already removed from the server; only those that arrive later.

Robert
thanks for the reply which was helpful, but I still think the Vista/XP
interface is poorly thought through.
Again appreciate your time
