I would like help from anyone who can help with any of the following.

I am attempting to set up PPT to loop continuously importing data from
another source (Say, Excel) (The intention is to use a PC as a "window
display")

So do the following.
1. On PC Reboot, start PPT automatically, open the desired file straight
into "slide show" mode.
2. On starting PPT, it should read an excel file and update some of it's
data.

PS There is an option to copy from excel and "Paste Special" into PPT.
"Paste Link" lets me read desired data from Excel, but only after manually
pushing an "Update Link" dialog box. I would need to kill that.

Thanks.

Rename the PPT to give it a .PPS extension and drop it into your Startup
folder.

Choose Edit, Links. Set the links to manual update. That should get rid of
the Update Link dialog box.

You'd have to force an update from time to time somehow, though.

See www.mvps.org/skp/ - Shyam's got an update links addin that might do the job
for you.
