Jared James

I have set up a home or small office network between my
laptop and my desktop computer.

I'm using a crossover cable between the two computers.

It has worked before, but it stopped working for some
reason. I have re-installed windows on both machines,
but after re-doing the network setup I still cannot view
the internet on my desktop.

Jared,

Here are a couple websites with useful tutorials:
http://www.cablesense.com/
http://www.homenethelp.com/

Are you saying that ICS provides service to the laptop but not the desktop right
now? Or you can't get internet service on either?

Please provide ipconfig information for each computer.
Start - Run - "ipconfig /all >c:\ipconfig.txt" - Open c:\ipconfig.txt in
Notepad, copy and paste into your next post.

And Jared, please don't contribute to the spread of email address mining
viruses. Learn to munge your email address properly, to keep yourself a bit
safer when posting to open forums. Protect yourself and the rest of the
internet - never post your address unmunged.

Jared,

Please start by removing IPV6 (Advanced Networking) from the host (is that the
desktop system?).

A lot of folks have trouble accessing the internet when IPV6 is installed. Un
install it, if that isn't the solution then we'll do some detailed analysis.

Is that the complete result from "ipconfig /all" on the client?

Cheers,
Chuck
