Setting up email accounts

I previously had my email account set up in OE. I tried to set up in Outlook
but it just won't work. Originally I imported it from OE and then tried to
set it up manually but same result. All the POP3, server and security
settings are identical. I have set Outlook as the default mail program.

I am not sure about the port settings. This article
http://products.secureserver.net/email/email_outlook.htm suggests they should
be 110 incoming and 80 outgoing whereas in OE they were 25 and 80
respectively.

Any assistance welcome. Thank you

Outlook version? Did you look at your ISP's instructions, usually posted on their web page?

| Outlook 2000. What would I be looking for on the ISP website?

Would the ISP be the company that provides my internet connection or the one
which hosts the email servers? And would they be different for Outlook and OE?

The incoming POP port will be either 110, 995, or some other port your ISP
will tell you to use, but never 25. SMTP (outgoing) ports are either 25,
465, or some other port your ISP will tell you to use, but, except for the
example you cite, rarely 80. Port 80 is what most web servers user form
incoming connections. It would be a rare ISP that allows SMTP connections
to come in on port 80.

It's in my sig.
