Hi
I'm trying to set up a network between my two computers using a crossover cabe CAT 5e. I do not have a hub and have been told that I shouldn't need one. Well, when I run through the network wizard the one computer pops up a error "Spooler Sub App" message and the network wizard says that it failed. The other computer sometimes runs through okay but doesn't show the other compter in 'my network places'. After trying to undo the damage and start over I can't get either computer to establish a connection and 'my network places' doesn't even show anymore on the start menu. Can anyone help me with this? Thanks for any input in advance

what you do need is a hub... from there the computers WILL
auto detect one another after setting the network wizard.
simple.

Actually, the OP can network the computers peer-to-peer directly using
crossover cable nic-to-nic and no hub. The question is really why he is
getting an error relating to printing. To the OP: please scan with a
current antivirus (post-2002 version using updated definitions) first.
When you are sure your computer is clean, attempt the networking. You
do not have to use the Wizard. If you are planning to use MS Internet
Connection Sharing (ICS), read about it in XP's Help & Support. In the
meantime, here are links to help you with networking:
