a.. To put your computer on standby, you must have a computer that is set up
by the manufacturer to support this option.(Those were words directly from
Health and Support Pages) Do you have this capability ?
a.. Have you been able to put your computer into a "Standby State" before ?
Has your Standby Feature been greyed -out since day 1 , or is it a recent
malady ?

Hi- me again, I do remember having this same problem when I first got my
computer about 2 years ago. I have XP as well. For the life of me , I'm
trying to remember what I did to resolve it. I need coffee- I'll be back
....I know it was something to do with...oh.. I 'ill be back

Control Panel> Power Options. If there is a tab marked APM, click on it and
mark the box to enable APM features.
