If I join a WINNT domain with a WINXP client I need to give the user
Administrator rights if I want him to be able to write to certain files on
the local PC. I believe these rights apply to the server as well as the
client

I dont have access to the domain server at the moment and would like details
in advance of how I may modify the users rights preferably to enable him to
run a limited no of applications on the local PC as well as amend specific
files but restict him an all other areas.

Many thanks

Hello Mike -
It sounds like you want to give privileges to a doamin user or local user on
a specific machine but not to all other machines on the domain/network.

To do that you can add the user to the appropriate local group -
administrators or power users based on the type of access you want the user
to have on that particular PC. This will restrict the user to have the
higher level of access to the local PC only, and not to server/other PCs on
the network.

Another option could be to give specific access to a user on the files you
want the user to be able to access. You can do this on a per folder or per
file basis.

How exactly could I do this

Thanks
