Setting multiple accounts

I had to reformat my hard drive and in the process,
reconfigure all my email accounts. However, the problem
I'm having is that all the mail for both accounts is
going to one inbox. It shouldn't be this complicated to
set each account to its own inbox with it own password
instead of one giant inbox. I previsouly used Outlook
Expres and I couldn't reconfigure that either, same
problem, all mail in one box.

that's the default behaviour of both Outlook and Outlook Express. If you
want that function then you need Netscape, Mozilla or Thunderbird.
You can get round it by using Rules to filter emails into different
manually-created folders.

I had it set up that way through OE before and I don't
recall using Rules? Amazing that something as simple as
multiple accounts each with its own inbox can't be
accomplished through software created by the supposed
software king! How can that be? Like everyone wants to
have access to everyone else's emails? I'm dumbfounded.

Ahhh - so you were talking about IDENTITIES not multiple email accounts.
Outlook doesn't "do" identities, but it does do Profiles. In Control Panel
go to the Mail icon and create a new Profile

Outlook Express has a construct known as an Identity that can have distinct
inboxes. Perhaps that's what you used.

You can do this with multiple profiles, but you'd need to close and restart
Outlook to switch between them.

No, just naive, if you think this is not true.
