I'm going to set up a user.dic for all my users, containing all our
company specific words.
I dont' know how to add the hyphenation points.
Example:
The added word is "ingolstadt". I want it to be hyphened only after the
"ol" = "ingol-stadt".
Can this information be added into the user.dic? How? Or: Where else?
Thanks for your help.

What happens if you save the word with conditional hyphens (Ctrl+Hyphen)?

Hi Pia,

If it doesn't work with the custom dictionary (haven't tried), you could
put in an optional hyphen (Ctrl+-) and add a formatted AutoCorrect entry
for it.

Unfortunately, unformatted AutoCorrects don't allow optional hyphens :-(

That won't change the hyphenation in old documents, but will add your
preferred hyphenation point if you type the word in the future.

Suzanne and Klaus,
I didn't describe my problem correctly:
I'm going to setup a HUGE user.dic. so I don't want to type in every
word manually, but want to import words from some ascii files (which I
exported from Interleaf/QuickSilver). I don't think that I can type in
word specific functions into a ascii-file?

Hi Pia,

Word uses a dictionary for hyphenation, but it also uses a lot of heuristic
rules. A full-text dictionary would be pretty large, especially for a
language like German which allows you to create words like
Donaudampfschifffahrtswitwenversicherungspolice (= insurance policy for the
widows of captains of the Donau steam ship company) on the fly ;-)

Perhaps you might use some external program like Carlos from
http://www.carlos.de/carlos/otr/entst.htm.
If you merge your user dic with that of Carlos, you ahould be able to put
in all optional hyphens in the text files.

I haven't used Carlos for a few years, and it does come at some cost... not
sure if it's worth it to you.

Regards,
Klaus
