Couple of techniques you may try.
1) Reverse the motion path.
Place the objects where they will end up, then create motion paths away from
the destination. right click on the motion path dotted line and choose
reverse motion path. The bad thing is that the object appears where it
should end up prior to moving into place.
2) Duplicate objects.
For each object in the puzzle, create a duplicate shape located where your
object should end up. Mark the exact center of both shapes. You can do
this by selecting the object, then select the line tool and click and drag
the line from one corner handle on the object to the opposite one. Then
re-select the object and repeat the line trick on the other two corners.
Where these lines cross is the exact center of the shape. Now, draw your
custom motion path from the exact center of your shape to the exact center
of the destination shape. It may help to zoom in as much as is possible for
the motion path. Finally, delete the destination shape and run.
