Please forgive me if it is out of topic.

Nowadays most set-top dvd players support JPEG format, what dose that
mean? Should I just burn all my images (.jpg) to a cd or dvd as data and
play them back in my TV with the set-top players which support JPEG?
How could i utilise this function?
Will the player advance the photos one by one at a defined interval as
slideshow? Could i set this interval?
Could I manually advance the photos for presentation?
Could i select the playing sequency of the photos?

Please enlighten me, thank you!!

I'd suggest the versatility of the player is the dominant factor, e.g. read
the manual and use RW's to experiment. I know mine will just sequencially
display jpg's found on a cd. I haven't yet checked if it'll do the same for
jpg's on a dvd. There are programs to create "picture" dvd's with varying
versatility. EXPERIMENT.

Thru a mistake I found my set-top dvd player WILL play DVD+ even though it's
not a documented supported format (only "-" label and in tech specs)! On the
other hand, one of my pc's dvd readers won't (Hitachi) , 2nd reads + & - (LG
CDRW/DVD and my dvd burner burns both types (Sony).

I suspect that the various brands of DVD players
would offer different viewing options...but...Yes, a
player with the JPEG compatibility will display .jpg
images that are burned on a CD-R/RW Data Disk.

When you insert the Disk, the player will do a scan
and then you should see a menu on your TV screen
that offers various options. The manual for my
Toshiba SD-V291 has several pages on how to
utilize the MP3/WMA/JPEG playback options.
Two useful options are Zoom and Rotate.
