After reading Blackviper "Notes for a happier computer and user", I am
inclined to disable the following services:

- computer browser;
- error reporting service;
- indexing service;
- net logon;
- netmeeting remote desktop sharing;
- network location awareness;
- network provisioning service;
- performance logs and alerts;
- remote registry service;
- secondary logon;
- server;
- telnet.

My PC runs Windows XP pro on a standalone basis.

Am I acting safely or trouble lies ahead?

I have all of those disabled except network provisioning service, I
don't have this as I do not have SP2.

Before disabling the Indexing Service, uninstall it in Add or Remove
Programs.

Start | Settings | Control Panel | Add or Remove Programs |
Add/Remove Windows Components button on left hand side|
Scroll down to and UNCheck: Indexing Service | Finish |
Close Add or Remove Programs

Then disable the Indexing Service.

Hope this helps. Let us know.

If the services are not causing you a problem, then leave all as it is..
remember the maxim "if it ain't broke, don't fix it"..
