Hi,

whenever i try to install a self devellopped service from a network
drive, WIN XP won't let me start the service. I always get the error
that the path cannot be found.

If I do the exact same thing on WINNT 4.0 SP 6 or WIN2000 SP2 this
works great.

Are there any security issues on XP that are added in order to start
services from shared drives.

PS. The installation was done as administrator and the services logs
on as administrator.

Sincerely

Not sure I understand. Does "logs on as administrator" mean "runs as
administrator" or does it mean "once the service starts, it impersonates the
administrator"?

More specifically, do you know what (which API, if possible) is failing with
the error? Is this a failure installing the service, a failure to start an
installed service, or a failure to access a network resource after the
service has been started?
