Was checking for Updates a couple of days ago and
downloaded Service Pack "DirectX9$". A description of the
file said it would enhance the performance of my computer
so I downloaded it. As far as I can tell it hasn't
affected my computer one way or the other but I would like
to remove the sevice pack. When I click my C drive, and
then windows, I have about 26 some odd files of this
nature "$NTUinstallKB.....$" with a "Spuninst" folder.
I tried a restore to an earlier date and also went into
the "Add/Remove" program but neither seemed to have
worked, although the Add/Remove program went through the
complete process and said it had been successfully
removed. I didn't shut off the computer but did reboot
after the removal.
Can anybody out there help me??

why do you want to remove a service pack ?

Marv;
Double-click the spuninst.exe in the spuninst file to uninstall the
patch.

Do you really want to?
Not seeing anything different may not mean what you think.
However if you uninstall a patch that protects against a
vulnerability, you may notice if your computer gets struck.
You should leave ALL Critical Updates and Service Packs in place.
