Microsoft has announced a preliminary release date for Windows XP SP3 of
sometime in 2007 (probably after Vista is released)

you dont need service pack 3 if you install service pack 5

If they have i haven't seen it. There is a 'false' service pack 3 going
around, but Microsoft haven't distributed one yet. My advice is keep well
away from the false one
