Does anyone think it would be worthwhile having developers test our in-house applications with the SP2 Candidate release, or should we wait on the final version? Do you think there will be any significant changes in functionality or features? Please advise.

Yes, there are many significant changes that may affect applications, and at
the very least your developers should read the documents available on the
following link, if not play with the release candidate itself:

You mean, *gasp!* Developers will actually have to THINK about security in
their designs? No more C:\appname install directories? No more "You must
have Admin to play this game" tech support calls?
