Service Pack 2 system crashes

I have installed SP2 twice (once by download & once by
CD). On both occasions, on completion of these
istallations, the PC has refused to boot up & just keeps
restarting over & over again. Had to reinstall XP-pro
twice now (which incidentally has left the PC not running
right, with things like missing keyboard strokes, etc!)
Any ideas out there?
