Service Pack 1a Problem

I am running windows XP SP1a and tried to upgrade to SP2.
Unfortunatly it froze the computer during the re-boot after installing SP2.
Could anyone tell my if SP2 is compatable with SP1a or a solution for tis
problem?

SP2 should have installed over the top of SP1a. Did you see any error
messages when the PC froze?
 
No, unfortunatly not. evrything seemed to go well until I had to re-boot.
I even switched the computer of to see if that would solve the problem, no
luck
 
Hi

After the next reboot, keep tapping F8 to see if you can access a screen
that has 'Last Known Good Configuration'. Try that to see if you can boot
into Windows normally. Failing that try Safe Mode (same screen) to see if
you can use System Restore or uninstall SP2?
 
Uninstall sp2.

What feature(s) of sp2 is it that intrigued you enough to try the install?

I have read very many hundreds of reasons for not installing it and have yet to read one good reason for installing.

I've read, read, and re-read the features list and can find nothing there that an otherwise clean running, protected, system would NEED!

Unfortunatly I have Already tried this and it still seized.
The only thing I could do is to re-install XP from scratch.
