I have a Vertrigo server on my computer. I was wondering if there is a
way I could let people access from other computers using a free
subdomain (or something like that). Is it possible with my IP address?
Is there some other server that will let me do it?

If you have it set up correctly, then they just need to type in your ip
address into their web browser

Would it work even if I have a router? Or would I have to set the
router up to forward people to the server?

Hi,

You'd have to set up port forwarding on the router for port 80 to the
internal IP of the machine running the web server software.

I have it set up to forward people to my server, but when I had some of
my friends try it, it did not work.

If you don't forward inbound the ports that the servers is allowing,
then you won't get anyone reaching your service.

Be warned, it's not a good idea provide public access if you don't
understanding routing and security.
