Hi,

I wanted to restart a W2k server, SP3, after a windows update, and chose the
restart now option (it was a IE5, SP3 security update).
That was about an hour ago, the server still has the "Windows is shutting
down" banner on the screen. Its still on it's NT domain, and still serving
web pages! It doesn't respond to ctrl alt del.
Should I pull the plug on it, or is it worth waiting a bit longer?

Thanks
S

Use shutgui.exe to shut it down via the network.

Hi Pegasus

I was being impatient, it did eventually restart of its own accord, after
about 90 minutes!

But for future reference, where will I find shutgui.exe? I tried it from a
command line on my XP Pro PC and from a W2k server, but I got the unknown
command message

Thanks
S
