When I send mail out it is rejected with Windows Mail-Error, the host (i
have used pop3 and smtp) could not be found error number 0x800CCC0D.
HELP. I HAVE BEEN TRYING TO CORRECT THIS FOR DAYS. I HAVE YET TO FIND A
CUSTOMER SUPPORT THAT CAN EVEN TELL ME WHAT I NEED TO DO.

pop3 and smtp are both invalid host names. Ask you email provider (who
is probably also your internet provider) for their instructions to set up
to use their email servers. If they haven't written instructions for
Windows
Mail yet, use their instructions for Outlook Express but under Windows Mail
instead. The instructions are probably somewhere on their web site.

Connecting to Yahoo from Windows Mail requires a premium Yahoo
account:

Who is providing you the email address?
You need to check with them. Most have a help page to tell you what their
server names are.

For instance, to find help with comcast
Google "comcast email server"

Also, keep in mind that Windows Mail can only access POP & IMAP email
servers. It cannot access http email.
The newer WIndows Live Mail can access POP, IMAP & Hotmail accounts.

What is the complete error message? It contains a lot of additional
information that would help diagnose the problem.

Email scanning should be turned off in any anti-virus. Also exclude EML
files from the scan. It provides no
protection not provided by the regular resident protection.
Besides that, McAfee and Norton are not compatible with Windows Mail and
Outlook Express and should be uninstalled.

Evidently the web interface users have a hard time figuring out
how to see replies. Microsoft either needs to improve that interface
or else send customers to the NNTP newsgroup instead.

pop3 and smtp are not valid server (or host) names. Ask your email

This may help if you have the program to read it. I don't.

Tell me about it. I have been trying for a couple of weeks. I think all these different e-mail services compete with each other and in the end the loser is the customer. Enough already. I have accounts everywhere thinking that my mail is rejected because I had no account. Then they have all these steps to do in perfect order, and in the end, it says, "if you fail, you can have this tool downloaded to correct this issue for you." Than you find out that doesn't work, and it just messed up yet another issue that worked fine before, and low and behold the ever popular,"SEARCH AND RESTORE". I have that down real good. I know that when any of us discover the solution, we will think, how easy was that and we're proud of the fact that we finally figured it out, but come on. I am 47 years old and got my first computer about a month ago. For what it cost, it should work by itself. But for now, all I want to know is who the heck is the server for windows mail. I have pop3 on yahoo, but
when I go to the "contact us", on a web-site that uses window, it absolutely will not go through. It says, Host 'GOOGLE' not found , verify that you have server name entered correctly. CAN ANYONE HELP ME!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

OK, GOO GOO IS BACK. i JUST SENT MY FIRST E-MAIL FROM A WEB SITE AND GOT
CONFIRMATION FOR ONCE THAT SAID IT WAS SUCCESSFUL AND NOT A MESSAGE OF ERROR.
IF NOT FOR THE FACT THAT I AM DETERMINED AND PERSISTANT IN PUZZLE SOLVING, I
WOULD HAVE GIVEN UP AND BOUGHT A BOOK OF STAMPS. I LOVE CHALLENGES. WITH
DEFEAT COMES PRIDE. ANYWAY, IT HIT ME THAT MY COMPUTER IS AN XPS M2010. IT
HAS ONE OF THE BEST SECURITY SYSTEMS AVAILABLE. I HAD A FEELING THAT THE
PROBLEM LYED SOMEWHERE IN THE DEFAULT SYSTEM SINCE I READ THAT IN SOME OLDER
VERSIONS, DEFAULTS ALLOWED ANYONE TO CHANGE A SETTING WHICH NORMALLY IS
RESERVED FOR SYSTEM ADMINISTRATER. NEW WINDOWS CORRECTED THAT PROBLEM. IT IS
AS EASY AS CLICKING TO OPEN YOUR 1. "SET PROGRAMS ACCESS AND COMPUTER
DEFAULTS". 2.AFTER PASSWORD PROMPT, UNDER-"CHOOSE A CONFIGURATION"- CLICK
CUSTOM. 3. CHOOSE A DEFAULT E-MAIL PROGRAM, THEN CLICK OK. FOR MORE
INFORMATION ON THIS, BRING UP WINDOWS HELP AND SUPPORT AND TYPE IN "CHANGE
THE DEFAULT E-MAIL PROGRAM. THERE ARE MORE INSTRUCTIONS FOR THE PERSON WITH
NUMEROUS ACCOUNTS. I MUST HAVE LOOKED AT THIS A MILLION TIMES, BUT IT WENT
RIGHT OVER MY HEAD UNTIL I STARTED THINKING THE ANSWER MAY BE IN SECURITY. I
REALLY HOPE THIS HELPS SOMEONE.

"GOO GOO GOOGLE. SERVER PROBLEMS" <GOO GOO GOOGLE. SERVER

pop3, smtp, and 'GOOGLE' are not valid server names. What server names you
should
use depends on who your email provider is.

Getting Yahoo accounts in the US connected to Windows Mail requires paying
for
a premium account:

I'm not sure about Google, but perhaps this is the place to look:

I realize you are a computer neophyte, but it is not considered good style
to write messages with the CAPS LOCK on.
