George

When I'm using any application (Acrobat, MS Word,
Outlook) and I try to open a file when I click on the
down arrow button in the "open in" box nothing happens
for a loooong time. Sometimes it will come back and I can
navigate through my hard drive. Other times it gives me
an error message that says "server busy ... switch to the
application ..." i then have the choice of clicking on a
button to switch to, retry, or cancel. If I click on
switch to it open the start menu. If I scroll through the
programs and then go back to the open file dialog box in
my original application it usually give me the same error
message until I do this for a few times.

I've also noticed that browsing my hard drive in file
explorer is also very slow.

I checked my event log file i see errors from DCOM and
Service Control Manager.

The DCOM error is:

The server {A1F4E726-8CF1-11D1-BF92-0060081ED811} did not
register with DCOM within the required timeout.

If I search my registry for this server
(HKCR\CLSID\A1F4...) I see that it's the svchost and the
ProgID is WiaDevMgr.1

The Service Control Manager error is:

The Windows Image Acquisition (WIA) service terminated
unexpectedly. It has done this 69 time(s).

So I'm stuck here. Can someone please help me eliminate
this most annoying error.

Thanks!!!

George

No, because no one knows who George is or what your problem is because you
didn't post to the original thread. I expect this is because you are using
some web interface to Usenet that calls itself a "forum". It isn't really.
Here are links explaining about Usenet and several of the links tell you
what details to include in a good newsgroup post in order to get focused
troubleshooting. Read them and then make a new post. Include all pertinent
details and someone will help you.

With all respect,While on these boards, I really hate when someone posts a problem they would like and answer to and then you have to fish through 500 responses who say, I have the exact same problem. Do you have an answer? If you dont have an answer to the question I would refrain from posting.
