I accidentally deleted the file spool32.exe from the
windows directory and my computer will now not open most
programs apart from internet explorer as it says it
cannot find the executables for them even though they are
in the directories. I am also unable to open the programs
i need to repair the problem e.g. system file checker,
system restore and i am also unable to access system
information so i cannot find my product ID number to get
free microsoft assistance. Does anybody know hoe i cold
fix the problem? Would it be possible to use a
spool32.exe off someone else's computer?

.

Try this from the 'Start>Run' menu item: sfc /scannow

This will require that you have the WinXP CD in the CD
drive so it can replace any damaged system files it finds.

Spool32.exe has to do with printing. While it could mess up your ability to
print, deleting it wouldn't have caused the other problems you're
describing. You have something else going on.
