Serious issues with Spyware

I am being defeated by popups. My computer is
loading .exe files that seem to be causing popups to
occur at random intervals (even when IE is closed). Some
of the more common names in my "processes" list are
uhug.exe and hsyjoq.exe. I run Spy-bot and Adaware
daily, but neither program seems to find this particular
issue. Any advice/help will be greatly appreciated.

in addition to your 2 anti spy programs I would recommend
a program called HIJACKTHIS and CWSHREDDER...check out
google for download links...good luck

Great advice. However, I have run both. I've also dug
around in my registry trying to find stuff that looks
suspicious. I'm beginning to think it might be time for
a reformat. Thanks.

Looking to the future, if you are not operating in an
environment where Windows Messenger is required, you
might want to follow the advice of Ramesh (MVP):

If the title bar reads as MESSENGER SERVICE, then it the
world famous Messenger SPAM. Install a Firewall to
prevent the pop-ups. Enable the Internet Connection
Firewall in Windows XP:

1. Open Network Connections
2. Click the Dial-up, LAN or High-Speed Internet
connection that you want to protect, and then, under
Network Tasks, click Change settings of this connection.
3. On the Advanced tab, under Internet Connection
Firewall, select the Protect my computer and network by
limiting or preventing access to this computer from the
Internet check box.

This blocks the TCP ports responsible for Messenger data
tranmissions and prevents Pop-ups.
