I installed (2) new SATA drives with fresh format and partitions. In the XP set-up I hit F6 for the SATA driver to load from a floppy. That was sucessful and the OS continued to install. Once the install was complete, I tried to reboot system with out floppy and I get a "no OS found" because the bios does'nt register the SATA drives, {it lists them but the auto detect feature does not find them} I have a FIC K8-800T running an AMD64 CPU the SATA is enabled in the bios and set for IDE, not RAID. How can I get windows to load the drivers or install them? Any help is appreciated.

On my Sata Mobo I set the boot devices in the BIOS
as follows: 1st boot...cd
2nd boot ....scsi

You do have to tell the BIOS that you have changed HD and which one you wish to
boot from

I just installed an SATA drive as well and I had to turn on the RAID jumoers on the MOBO before I insalled the drivers ...at F6. It works great now.

I think I have a similar issue. When setting up my new PC using XP Pro OS, I used the F6 function to load my Si3112 (non RAID) SATA drivers from floppy. All was well, OS installed fine, tweaked BIOS, added additional IDE HDDs, hardware, software, etc. PC works great, except I noticed at some point later in Device Manager ?Other Devices/?Mass Storage Controller showed up. Giga-Byte tells me to reload the Si3112 driver, but I can't now get back into F6 on the boot. Not sure how this driver dissapeared, but now wondering how one goes about reloading. I boot from my SATA Raptor HD, PC does work fine, but MS Updates sees the missing driver and offers the download. Problem is you can't install it over the already installed OS, or XP Pro will not reboot. Wondering if anyone knows correct method of reinstaling? Email reply welcome. Tks...

Download the new driver, copy it to floppy, insert XP CD and boot from CD.
You should get the F6 prompt.
