Using Word 2002.
I have a document that I need to divide into smaller pieces but I would like
to keep everything numbered sequentially. I also want to create a TOC that
spans all pieces of the document. Is this possible?

Thanks

First in order to get a TOC across your documents, you will need to use the
Master Documeent feature in Word. This page should give you the advice on
how to do this.

Please note I have read on the discussion baords some issues (format issues
if i remember correctly) with master documents in the past. Make a backup of
your document before you do this!! So please make sure you spend some time
researching them and fully understand what they are and how they work.

As for the page numbering, you will have to create a section in the master
document for each subdocument. Then place the page numbers in the header or
footer. With the Header/Footer toolbar showing, click the Format Page Number
icon. You can change the start number of the page for that section. This
gets tricky with master.Subdocuments.

Hope this helps.
