sequential number documents

How do I sequential number documents such as invoices in Excel 2003. I was
able to do this in Excel 97.
 
Unfortunately Excel 2002 and 2003 have done away with the Template Numbering
Add-in that used to work in conjunction with the Template Wizard with data
tracking.

Bob has pointed you to some sites with info on sequential numbering.
