separate lastname and first name from colum

My table has JOHN, SMITH in one column, but I need a
separate column for JOHN and a separate column for SMITH,
is there a way to do this?

Already answered in tablesdbdesign. It's rarely necessary to post to more
than one newsgroup, but if you must, please select the relevant groups you
need in the 'group field, rather than posting separately to multiple groups.
That way, the response in one is displayed in all. It's a courtesy thing...
