sent messages and sent items

Hi, my email software is Windows mail, which has a folder named 'sent items'
and another named 'sent messages' for each email account, some of emails I
sent are saved into 'sent items', and others saved into 'sent messages', all
those emails are sent out smoothly. Anyone know the difference?

One assumes that copies of messages sent from a POP3 account are found in
the Sent Items folder and that messages sent from an IMAP account are found
in the Sent Messages folder, David.
 
Is this a POP account or an IMAP account?
IMAP providers often have their own name for mail folders.
