Sent items folder

I have looked and looked but I cant see the answer
When I send a new message it appears in my sent folder ok!
When I reply or forward a message it does not - instead it seems to appear in my inbox.
Can someone please point out to me how to put this right.ie forwarded and replied to mails to go into mt sent folder?
 
UPDATE

the recipient gets hiis mail but my copy is dumped in my inbox not in my sent folder. It is not sent to me but filed in the inbox
