sending Word attachment

From Outlook 2000, I am attaching a Word 2000 file by way of File, Send to,
as Attachment. The Recipients cannot open the Word file by double-clicking
the attachment. However, they can open it by using the Open With command.
All receipents have Word 2000. What could be the problem? I send this report
out on a monthly basis.
 
Are you sure it's a Word File? What's the extention?
Such as: Word.doc, Word.RTF, Word.txt, etc...
What is the message they get when they double click it?
